I recently got a degree in fine art photography where I was producing traditional black and white portraits. (If you want to see them let me know and I'll send you my professional website!) My university only had traditional, analog black and white photography but I'm visually impaired so I had to do all my work digitally because I can't see in the darkroom (I might touch on this in another post if you'd be interested?). It was a weird experience because at times, I felt isolated from everyone else but it was also wonderful because I still got to take part in the medium that I love.
The only editing at school I did was change the photos to black and white, up the contrast, and crop them into squares. Now, it feels a little strange to be able to edit my photos in anyway I want. Before I was apart of my rigorous and traditional university program, I loved messing around with photoshop. I'm not too pleased with these photos but I had fun editing them. But I think that's one reason I've come to really love blogging. I can create images without some huge philosophical meaning behind them and edit them however I want! It's refreshing. Sometime's I feel bogged down by finding new places to shoot when I don't have a car but editing these photos in new ways made it fun again.
