Get Out There

I noticed last week that I've been putting a lot of pressure on myself to figure out my new plan or my "next step". But that means I haven't really been trying to experience life here, you know? I've spent so much of my time thinking of how to get out of here when I needed to be trying to make myself feel not so distressed. I've lived in my current city since January. I lived with a roommate for the first half of the year but now that I live alone I've been really trying to meet new people.

So, I went to my first meet up. It went okay.

If you're not familiar with the website Meetup, it's basically a website where other people make groups/outings based on interests and it's a way to "supposedly" meet other people like you. I've been a member of the site for a while but only went to my first meetup this weekend. There were supposed to be quite a few people for this hiking meetup but it ended up only being me and two middle-aged men. So, not the best way to make new friends.... But it was a really pretty hike! I also found a way to bike there, which is exciting. I can't wait to take blog photos there.

I also started volunteering at a hostel in my town, which also isn't the best way to meet new people... no one comes to the hostel! So, I'm trying to meet new people and get out there but it just doesn't feel like it's working. I guess it's just something that will take time. I wish I could skip ahead to the part where I have some good friends here already, haha.

Fall Fashion Essentials / Video

I've been really enjoying making videos recently. So, today I thought I'd share my top ten fall fashion essentials! I'll be back next week with more outfit posts. I don't have too much to say today as most of it is in the video!

What are you fall fashion essentials?

What are

Ready For Halloween

The title of this post is a bit misleading. I probably won't be dressing up for Halloween this year as I work in an office. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I dressed up but I might feel a little silly dressing up by myself. Children probably won't come to my apartment complex to trick or treat. I don't have any plans to attend a party so in fact, I am not ready for Halloween after all.

But this outfit makes me feel a bit more in the spirit of halloween. I am loving that velvet is a huge trend this season as I've been obsessed with it for a few years now. It's warm, cozy, and so chic! I think I own two velvet skirts, a dress and leggings - oops. I'm planning on filming a velvet lookbook this weekend so look out for that next week!

Growing up I used to make all of my own costumes. The most notable being Shaun White, Michael Phelps and a pink poodle. I wish I could find photos of those costumes. I was pretty proud of them. Now I usually default to dressing as the Log Lady from Twin Peaks. All you need is a log, flannel shirt, big glasses, and some hiking boots! Maybe the next time I have plans for halloween I'll get more creative with my costume but for now the log lady works fine for me.

I had to do some editing magic (Thanks photoshop!) to make these photos match how I feel about autumn and halloween. The colors and cooler weather are taking their own sweet time here. But at least I can go outside in a sweater and not want to die of a heat stroke, right?

Why you need to visit Laramie, Wyoming

When you think of Wyoming you might think: Where is it? Or you might think of Yellowstone (which is incredible) but there are other gems of Wyoming that are worth discovering. And when you think of Laramie you might think about the Laramie project... but that couldn't be farther from the truth!

Laramie, Wyoming is a small town 2 hours north of Denver. I truly believe it's one of the most underrated towns in the states. It's charming, it's beautiful, and it's got some of the best food I've ever had. I even feel like I shouldn't be writing this post because Laramie feels like my little secret.

In this post - I've got some of the best things you should do in Laramie.

Visit the Snowy Mountain Range

The snowy mountains are only an hour outside of Laramie and let me tell you - they are worth it! There are so many trails you can hike, mountain bike, ski, snowshoe... the list is endless of outdoor activities! But be warned, the mountain range was not named half-heartedly. I've visited at the beginning of May and there was a FEET of snow on the ground! We were ill prepared to hike up Medicine Bow peak but it was fun nonetheless. When I visited this October, they were having a bit of a "heat wave" but there was definitely a chill and some snow in the mountains.

Explore the Town

Laramie is adorable. The architecture is unique. There are beautiful aspens everywhere. It's really easy to explore by foot or bike. I also love walking around the University. They have a really cool art museum and a dinosaur museum! Plus, it's just a really beautiful campus. I'd also recommend visiting the territorial prison outside of Laramie if you get the chance. It is really interesting and it's fun to learn about people like Butch Cassidy from all the old Westerns!

Head to Vedauwoo

Pronounced "Vee-da-voo," the huge rock outcropping is only a mere 20 minutes outside of Laramie. It's incredibly fun to scramble up to the top, rock climb, or just hike below. I last went on the hike that wraps around the rocks through some ponds. It's beautiful and an easy hike if you're new to it or not looking for anything too strenuous.

Eat The Food!

I've heard tales that people come from Denver to eat in Laramie. I don't doubt it either. I don't have any pictures of the food I ate on my last trip (oops) but there is the best vegetarian restaurant in Laramie called Sweet Melissa's. I got a lentil-walnut burger that was incredible. My friend got the infamous black bean and sweet potato burrito. So good.
Other notable places you should eat: Night Heron, The Crow Bar, and Anong's thai.

Enjoy a Sunset (or two)

They don't call the west big sky country for no reason. The skies in Wyoming are big. Really big. The sunset above doesn't even do it justice. I don't know if it's because they don't have as many trees blocking the way but man, not much can beat a good Wyoming Sunset (except maybe one in Montana!)

So, that's it! If you're ever in Denver I'd definitely recommend getting up to Laramie for a day or two. It is so worth it.

 Where is your underrated city?

How to Resell Thrifted Clothing / Video

This has been a video that I've been wanting to make for a while. I originally started writing it as a blog post but I realized I had too much to say on the topic.

I started selling my old clothes on various selling apps... but then I realized I could make some money off of it by selling my thrifted finds. So, I'm giving away my secrets on how to resell and flip thrifted clothing in the video below!

Have you ever resold clothing online?

The Next Step

I've gotten to a point where all I want to do is work on my blog and make tons of video content.  At work I'm often jotting down blog post ideas, outfit ideas, videos I want to film. It's a never ending list of things I want to create for this space, which is a great feeling. But I just don't have the time or the daylight to create it all.

I even started looking at a graduate course in Amsterdam called "New Media and Culture" where it focuses on academic blogging, social media, and everything that comes with it. Who knows if I'll apply because the thought of writing a thesis right now sounds pretty daunting... but I suppose it's worth looking into.

I've been reading and watching so many articles/videos about how people like me have turned their passion project into a career. I'm nowhere near that point yet but it's such a cool idea to me. I love that people have been able to make creative careers out of a project they developed themselves.

I doubt I'll ever be self-employed but it sure does sound like a dream. And I still feel like I'm constantly dreaming of moving to Europe. So many countries so close together! GOOD public transit! The food! Everything about it is so appealing but the only way it looks like I might be able to get there is through graduate school, which seems like an okay option. I just have to figure out what I want to do with my life first...

It's scary to try and figure out the next step in my life but it's almost all I think about now. Where should I live? What should I study? Where should I work? I don't know if I'll ever figure it all out but I wish I could figure out this next step a little easier.

Weekend in Laramie / Video

Transitioning Your Summer Clothes for Fall

I just got back from the best four-day weekend in Laramie, Wyoming. More on that later but guys - I love that town and the people so much.

Pack With Me! / Video

I decided to try out my first voiceover video so please go easy on me with the audio :)

This weekend I am heading to Laramie, Wyoming! It might not sound like the most exciting place in the world but I am so excited to do some hiking, eat good food, and see friends I haven't seen in years.

I thought it would be fun if I showed you what I'm packing. This could very well change as I am very indecisive about packing but it's a start. I am thinking about "vlogging" while I'm there but I might just try and take as many video clips and string them together ha. Either way, expect lots of content from my trip!

Anyways - let me know what you think in the comments!

The Best Accessory Might Surprise You
